It’s the time of the year where every Instagram story you stumble upon says “GO GREEK” with trendy pictures and cute captions. What does it really mean to go Greek?
Going Greek means finding a group of strong, unique, goal-oriented women to surround yourself with. Going Greek means always having a friend to join you on a study date. Going Greek means seeing the friendly face of a sister as you trek across campus. Going Greek means constantly having a sister to accompany you to the gym or for your morning coffee. Going Greek means sleepovers, nights on the town, and lunch dates with your sisters. Going Greek means taking on a multitude of leadership roles that will prepare you for the future. Going Greek allows you to immerse yourself into philanthropic events and fundraising and being able to do something important that improves the lives of others. Going Greek means finding new hobbies and making connections that will last a lifetime.
When you join the Panhellenic community not only are you introduced to your own sisters, but an entire group of empowered women wearing a variety of letters. Chances are, there are multiple ladies within your classes, jobs, and social groups that are also involved in the Greek community. Not only will your sisters become some of your closest friends, but so will different ladies from every chapter on campus. The possibilities for networking opportunities, friendships, leadership positions, and memories are endless within the Panhellenic community.
If you are considering becoming part of the Greek community, take a leap of faith and you might just find your best friends or the executive board position you never dreamt of holding. Your college experience, the connections you make, and the memories you create will only be enhanced with the addition of the Panhellenic community to your life. This is what is meant by the cute Instagram stories prompting you to go Greek.
