National History

Founding Date:

October 15th, 1885

DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana

James Hamilton Howe, a professor and dean of the school of music at Depauw University, encouraged seven women to form the Alpha Chi Omega organization. These women formed the sixth women's fraternity in a music school and in the country at the time. These founders chose Alpha and Omega, which are the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet and having Chi in between, meaning and. Today there are 194 collegiate and 279 alumnae chapters represented across the United States, and the fraternity counts more than 230,000 members initiated through its history.

Our History

Alpha Chi Omega was brought to Central Michigan University on November 8th, 1958, creating the Delta Zeta chapter. Currently,  there are nearly 90 active members on our campus that make up our chapter. We all strive to seek the heights in our everyday lives to provide academic and social support to one another. Leaders on campus, in the classroom, and in the community, we are dedicated to developing ourselves as successful students and members of society while strengthening our friendships and sisterhood.
